Chris “Jesus” Ferguson earned his nickname because of his long hair and beard, but folks might be tempted to look at him with a bit more awe after they learn of his challenge at Full Tilt Poker. As a personal quest he decided he would start with a bankroll of nothing and see if he could work it up to $10k. Spoiler Alert! He did it.
HOW did he do, though? That’s the question. And swiftly followed by, “can I do it?”
First Chris had to get some money in his account, but how to do so without any seed funds? Freerolls! He doggedly pursued these games until he built up enough to play in real money games, and from there he went to work.
He kept his SNG and cash game buy in limit to 5% of his total bankroll.
He kept his MTT buy in down to 2% of his total bankroll or less -- with the exception of $1 MTTs.
If he discovered during a no limit cash game that the money on the table hit more than 10% of his total bankroll, he had to cash out and leave, in order to keep himself from getting sucked into making a call because the odds were right. This rule also applied to pot limit cash games.
