Danzer & Nobles Tussle at 2006 World Series of Poker

Henrik Kjellberg - 2 Oct 2008

Dmitri Nobles held the chip lead for quite a while during the 2006 World Series of Poker. The trash-talking Texan, who hails from Houston, qualified for the event online at PokerStars and made a name for himself as an aggressive player who got under people’s skins by talking them out of their chips by talking at them….kind of like someone else we know from the 2006 WSOP. What was his name?  Anyway, Nobles busted out well ahead of the final table, much to many players’ delight, but not before angering quite a few more.

He and amateur player, George Danzer, who was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil, but was raised in Germany and lived for a time in Lisbon (Portugal) tussled quite a few times at the TV table. In this hand, Danzer had the best of it and Nobles sucked out, much to Danzer’s chagrin. How frustrating!

Here’s the hand history:

Game Type: No Limit Texas Hold'em
Tournament: 2006 World Series of Poker
Players in hand: Dmitri Nobles, George Danzer

Starting Hands:
Dmitri Nobles – A, 8
George Danzer – K, K

PreFlop:

George Danzer was  happy to have Cowboys and the very loose maniac Nobles to act after, raises it up to $18k. Dmitri Nobles, naturally this former chip leader, was trying to save himself and his game, makes the call.

The Flop:  [8, 4, 7]

George Danzer checks his option. Dmitri Nobles bets $100k, looking to win with aggression because his cards aren’t good enough. Danzer moves all in over the top and is thrilled when Nobles calls.

The Turn: [8, 4, 7] [A]

George Danzer loses his cool for a moment and leaves the table - and almost the room - as Dmitri Nobles runs around hooting and hollering for his good luck. Someone should’ve called an official over to give Nobles a penalty for poor behavior. Ouch!

The River: [8, 4, 7, A] [2]

That does it. Danzer has run out of gas, but still has some chips, but maybe not much fight left.

In this hand, we see Danzer in a more commanding light. Check it out, courtesy of YouTube:
