Tourneyblog Heroes: Annete Obrestad

Serena DaSilva - 3 Jan 2008
Annette Obrestad wins the WSOPE Main Event. A day before her nineteenth birthday, Norwegian femme phenom, Annette Obrestad, took down the inaugural World Series of Poker Main Event, winning more than $2,000,000 – the biggest one-time prize awarded to a female ever. The Norwegian online sensation then signed on with WSOPE sponsor Betfair Poker.

Many players would be content to sit on their laurels for a bit after taking down the big one, but not Annette. Less than two months later, the youngster placed second in the EPT Dublin tournament. Annette’s only regret – that she didn’t win that one.

At just 19, her live action tournament winnings border on $2.5 million. She received the Top Tournament Performance of the Year at the Poker Europa Awards in Early December and has truly earned her spot on our list.
