Tourneyblog Heroes: David Pham

Serena DaSilva - 3 Jan 2008
David Pham becomes CardPlayer Player of the Year for making eleven final tables and finishing first in four tournaments. David Pham isn’t called The Dragon for nothing. The Vietnamese-born poker pro was the CardPlayer POY in 2002 so you know he’s no stranger to tournament success.

However, 2007 could, perhaps be called ‘the year of the dragon.’ Pham began 2007 with a 49th place finish at the Aussie Millions Main Event. Upon returning to the States, Pham made two final tables at the month-long LA Poker Classic. Then, he won two tournaments at the Winnin’ o’ the Green in Los Angeles. Pham followed that up with a third place finish at the World Poker Challenge in Reno.

In April, Pham was sixth at the WSOPC Main Event at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. He then took eleventh place at the WPT Mirage Poke Showdown and cashed twice at the WSOP in ’07, making one final table. He ended the year with a 2nd place finish at the WPT Legends of Poker and took the top spot in the $2,500 NLHE contest at the Doyle Brunson North American Poker Championships.

Pham, cousin of Men “The Master” Nguyen, himself a former CardPlayer Player of the Year, has sure kept himself busy in 2007.

The Dragon talks with PokerWire in this clip from the WPT:
