Tourneyblog Heroes: Sorel Mizzi

Serena DaSilva - 3 Jan 2008
Sorel Mizzi proves himself a tournament Titan. The online superstar made a splash in the live action world as well in 2007. In March, he won €200 NLHE tournament at the Vienna Spring Poker Festival and came in fourth in the €1000 NLHE event. He followed that up in April with a third-place finish at the PaddyPower Irish Poker Open.

He has also proved to be a dominant force in the High Stakes Poker Showdown held at PokerStars each week, practically owning the top spot in that tournament. Mizzi also won the Tournament Titan event, taking the top prize of $200,000 and a seat to the 2008 WSOP Main Event.

Perhaps he’ll improve upon his three cashes at the 2007 World Series, including his 208th finish in the Main Event. At Full Tilt, he took down one event each at the Full Tilt Online Poker Series III and IV. His online earnings alone for this year exceed $620,000.

Mizzi proves that he can hang with the big boys both online and in live action events. That, in and of itself, is a major feat.
