Six players took to the felt for the final table of the 2009 Bay 101 Shooting Stars tournament. One shooting star, Kathy Liebert, was left. Only one could walk away with his or her first WPT title.
Tony Behari walked into the final table with a slight chip lead over Steve Brecher. Chau Vu was the short stack and didn’t last long. He was KO’d by Kathy Liebert’s pocket rockets. Tony Behari, the former chip lead, would hit the rail about five hours later in 4th position earning $230,000 for his efforts.
Liebert and Becher, both seasoned professionals, made it all the way to heads-up play. The duo battled for nearly two hours by themselves, making this the longest World Poker Tour final table battle in the series’ history.
In the end, Brecher defeated Liebert for the title.
These are the final results:
1) Steve Brecher - $1,025,000
2) Kathy Liebert - $550,000
3) Chris Moore - $291,500
4) Tony Behari - $230,000
5) Thao Le - $180,000
6) Chau Vu - $135,000
