The 2008 Caribbean Poker Classic has officially wrapped up, and the latest CPC champion is David R. Lloyd. With a prize of more than ninety thousand dollars, the “R” in his name could now stand for “rich.”
There were some changes in this year’s Caribbean Poker Classic, including where it was held. In the past the event was played at the exotic St. Kitts Resort & Royal Beach Casino Marriott, already a wonderful location for a tropical poker tournament, but this year they upped it a notch and took the event out to sea.
The event was held onboard a luxury cruise ship, something of a growing trend. On board 111 players vied for the championship, but in the end it came down to Lloyd and Dol Bergren, with the initial chip leader Mark Phillips -- an early favorite -- busting out in fourth place.
