World Poker Tour Comes to Italy

Deanna Goodson - 10 Mar 2009

On May 6th, the World Poker Tour will pull into Italy’s “City of Water”, Venice and stage its first event in the country. Concluding on Mary 10th, the WPT Venice is being run in conjunction with online poker site BwinPoker.

WPT’s CEO Steve Lipscomb had this to say about the event, “We’re thrilled to launch our first ever brick-and-mortar WPT tournament offering in Italy. Bwin is a strong partner with the right market position in the region. We look forward to working with them to bring this event and the WPT brand to poker players in Italy and Europe.”

BwinPoker’s Manfred Bodner replied, “We are delighted to be working with the WPT on this speculator tournament. This event will bring in the excitement that only bwin can offer — people will be able to bet on the players of the final table while watching the action on the screen.”

The event will be broadcast live on bwin’s web-TV channel just like the WSOP Main Event final table was.

Qualifiers are going on for the WPT Venice right now at BwinPoker. Visit Bwin for more information!
