WSOP PoY Offers Triple Crown

WSOP commissioner Jeffery Pollak has the right of it—should any player actually manage to win the new “Triple Crown” of the World Series of Poker, he or she will be heralded as the greatest poker player ever. Already the laurels are heaped upon the winner of the WSOP main event (with the possible exception of last year) and the $50k HORSE event winner is recognized at the very least by his fellow pros, and now the WSOP is holding a Player of the Year award that will do much the same.

Winning the main event could be a fluke if a player got lucky enough, and the HORSE as well (although less likely) but winning the PoY is nothing short of a skilled endeavor. To win PoY a player has to amass more points than any other player during the course of the WSOP, getting points for placing in all of the events EXCEPT the Main and the HORSE.
