Mike Sexton wins Tournament of Champions

'Million Dollar Mike'

Who knew Mike Sexton could actually play poker? Oh, sure, he TALKS a good game. Well, he talks a lot, any way. Most of you know Mike as the Winter to Vince Van Patten's Summer on the World Poker Tour. Mike has had a fairly colorful career in poker, and while he has not been completely absent from pro poker events since taking on his cushy gig at Steve Lipscomb's place, he hasn't exactly been avoiding them. Taking down a field as special as the Tournament of Champions has certainly taken care of the bona fides for Mike.

Held this year at the beginning of the WSOP instead of after all the action like last year due to some reason known only to the Powers that Be, the TOC fielded the gang from the Million Dollar Table at the end of WSOP 2005. The final three were Kid Poker Daniel Negreanu, Mike "the Mouth" Matusow, and of course, Iron(gray) Mike. Mike, who won the gig last year, took a nice third place finish, and Daniel took second along with a fat check. Mike took a smooth million dollars for his win, and an even bigger payout in Respect.
