All Japan Poker Championship Coming to Tokyo This May
The All Japan Poker Championship (AJPC) is the largest poker tournament in Japan. The event, which began on April 27th and will end on May 18th, is unique in that Japan doesn't allow casinos or offer legalized gambling. Players can not bet money or pay any entry fee in this event.
The AJPC, which was held for the first time last year, is designed to allow Japanese players to enjoy the game of Texas Hold'em. SEGA Sammy Group, a company known for it gaming software and hardware, is the main sponsor of the event. Presented by Global Mix, the AJPC features tournaments in Osaka and Tokyo, two of Japan's biggest cities.
The Main Event, which will be held in Tokyo on May 18th, features a buy-in to the 2008 World Series of Poker NLHE championship in Las Vegas this summer as well as airfare and accommodations. The winner will also receive a special bracelet.
To qualify for the AJPC Main Event, players must win one of the preliminary tournaments. In addition to the Main Event, the AJPC will also feature ladies' and seniors' events on the 18th of May, 2008.
