American Student Wins First APPT Event
It just figures. The youngest guy attending the kick off to the Asia-Pacific Poker Tour in Manila winds up winning it. Joe Hachem was there, and he even has a WPT victory under his belt, not to mention the 2005 WSOP! Does HE win it? NoooOOOooo.
Seriously, though, congratulations to 22 year old University of California student Bret Parise, who's mom found out he was playing in the event in Manila after he won it. Nothing like breaking the news that you are ditching class to travel to the Philippines by saying “but I won $180,000.”
If you wouldn't mind a few hundred grand yourself, there are still future APPT events to come- head to PokerStars and qualify- that way THEY pay the airfare.
