Andreas Ramadanis Takes HPT Title at Golden Gates Casino
386 players took to the felt at the Golden Gates Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado (near Denver). They flocked from surrounding states to take part in the Heartland Poker Tour's latest Texas Hold'em Main Event. A total of 1,942 players entered the tournament series' popular qualifiers in the week prior to the event including the event's eventual champion, 31 year old sound engineer Andreas Ramadanis. Ramadanis, a Denver resident, had previously won just $500 playing poker.
Watching Ramadanis take on the field was his galpal and “lucky charm” Kortni. He told her that if he won the tourney that he'd “buy her a car.” Entering the final table as the chip leader, Ramadanis held on to the lead and emerged victorious with the help of some really “great flops.”
Ramadanis earned nearly $175,000 for the win in what was hailed as Colorado's biggest poker tournament to date. The Heartland Poker Tour is nearing the end of its 2008 run.
