Irish Poker Open Main Event Update – Final Table Set

The Irish Poker Open will play its final table later today. Sitting atop the chip heap is Londoner Neil “Bad Beat” Channing. Channing, a regular columnist for Bluff Europe Magazine, has cashed in the WSOP in 2004, 2005 and 2007. Bad Beat is a heavy favorite (at odds of 10/11) to take down the €800,000 that's set aside for the Irish Poker Open 2008 Main Event champion.

667 entrants began the event, sponsored by PaddyPowerPoker , including superstars such as Doyle Brunson, Jennifer Tilly, Phil Laak and Padraig Parkinson. Carsten Joh, a German player, has the distinction of being the final table bubble boy. He busted in seventh when Donal Norton's A,Q defeated the pocket threes of Joh.

Donal currently sits in second chip position with more than 1,164,000.

Here are the current standings:

1) Neil Channing – 2,748,000 2) Donal Norton – 1,164,000 3) Tim Blake – 912,000 4) Kai Danilo Paulson – 716,000 5) Edwin Tournier – 562,000 6) Thomas Dunwoodie – 547,000

In other IPO news, Frenchmen win two preliminary events. Pascal Perrault took down the PLO event, winning €46,600 and David Miara won the €1,500 NLHE event.
