Liebert & Tran Make the Final Table at Foxwoods

The World Poker Finals are gearing up for a fantastic finish this year. For the first time ever, there are two ladies at the final table of a WPT Main Event. These are some serious poker-playing ladies too. Kathy Liebert and Mimi Tran. are the most well-known poker players at the final table for the World Poker Finals. It's a great position for either of these women to be.

Kathy Liebert is the first woman to win a million dollars in a tournament (The Party Poker Million in 2002). She's also gone deep into the Main Event at the WSOP more than once, which anyone can tell you is no easy feat. She's been to the final table of the WPT three times before this and is the top-earning lady in World Poker Tour history. Her best finish at the WPT prior to the Foxwoods Poker Finals was 3rd place at last year's Borgata Poker Open.

Kathy Liebert is holding about 2.5 mil in chips prior to the start of the televised final table. She's not in the chip lead, but anyone who's seen her play will know she can take the title. Besides, she's confident. She wants to win this one, having finished seventh a few years back at the first-ever Foxwoods event, She suffered several bad beats from Howard Lederer and Layne Flack and would love some payback. It would be great if this was Kathy's time to shine.

Of course, if it's not meant to be, Mimi Tran wouldn't mind taking Kathy's place. She'd be a fitting champ as well. Mimi plays in some of the biggest cash games in the world. A native of Vietnam, Tran is mentored by another big-name player, Barry Greenstein. Mimi, like Kathy, has been a fixture and a force to be reckoned with on the Poker Superstars Invitational events. She finished 9th at the 2005 National Heads Up Championships. Mimi's also done well at the WSOP and the WPT events, but this is her biggest final table to date.

Tran has about 20k more chips than Liebert has. Both gals are about 2 million behind the chip leader, a relative unknown by the name of EG Harvin. Rounding out the final table are Nenad Medic, Michael Perry and Michael Omelchuk, who are all used to playing at Foxwoods. These guys have 1.2 mil, 680k and 533k in chips respectively.

No matter what happens, the World Poker Finals is heading towards a fantastic - perhaps an historic - conclusion. We can't wait to see how it all turns out.
