Party Poker Premier League – Tony G Takes The Lead
The Party Poker Premier League kicked off its 2008 edition earlier this week at 3 Mills Studio in London. 12 of the world's top stars are there battling for their share of the million dollar prize pool. Each invitee has to face a table of six players and must win their way to the final. The top four point getters in the preliminary rounds are assured of their seats. The eight remaining players will battle it out heads-up to get one of the last two spots.
Here's the who's who of the 2008 Party Poker Premier League:
At the end of Day One, two heats had been played. Tony G and Roland de Wolfe were in the top spot. Each player won his match. Also finishing strong were Annie Duke and Alex Kravchenko. Black and Helppi had yet to get on the board, busting out first on their respective tables.
Day Two saw Tony G rack up another win, taking a commanding lead over the rest of the players with 18 points. De Wolfe, a big winner on Day 1, hit the rails first in his heat, adding no points to his overall score. Andy Black got on the board with a big win, defeating former EPT London champ, Victoria Coren, in his heat. Ulliott and Helppi are on virtual life support at this point with just 1 and 2 points each.
