Samuel Oberlin Wins World Series of Poker Circuit Title
Samuel Oberlin may be only 22, but his pals call him “Gramps”. The finance student from Grand Rapids, Michigan who began playing poker at the tender age of four has, up until now, mostly sat in on cash games. With two cashes under his belt, Oberlin now has a major title on his poker-playing resume. The young gun won the first Main Event of the 2008/9 World Series of Poker Circuit.
Despite entering heads up play against Jerry Martin, a married father of one from Indianapolis, Indiana, at a disadvantage, Oberlin emerged victorious from the final table and claimed the six figure payday.
These are the final results:
1) Samuel Oberlin -- $143,064 2) Jerry Martin -- $79,480 3) David Kopacz -- $43,714 4) Len Ashby -- $31,792 5) Joey Couden -- $27,818 6) Jamin Stokes -- $23,844 7) Derek Whelan -- $19,870 8) Dean Schultz -- $15,896 9) Ray Lynn -- $11,922
