Soraya Homam Takes Down Party Poker Women's World Open II

Soraya Homan is a 46 year old Iranian-born German poker professional. She has more than 20 years experience playing the game. According to sources, the Frankfurt resident danced a jig of delight after she defeated fellow German Stefanie Bergener in a tough heads-up match-up in the Party Poker Women's World Open II. Last year's winner in this tournament was the UK's Beverley Pace .

Homam, who is absolutely “delighted” with the result, earned $50,000 for her efforts and the title of Party Poker Women's World Open II champion. A total of 36 participants took part in this event including Erica Schoenberg, Jen Mason, Maria Demetriou, Xuyen Pham, and Pippa Flanders.

Sitting at the final table with Homam and Bergener were UK TV presenter – and Purple Lounge Poker's own – Michelle Orpe. Orpe, who also made the final table of the European Ladies Poker Championship 3 put on by Ladbrokes Poker earlier this year, which was won by Absolute Poker cutie Liv Boeree , finished in fifth place. Orpe added $7,000 to her bankroll. Also finishing strong was Spanish player Maria “May” Maceiras. Maceiras, who plays under the EverestPoker banner, finished in third position and received $14,000 for her efforts.

These are the final results:

1) Soraya Homam (Germany) $50,000 2) Stefanie Bergener (Germany) $22,000 3) Maria Maceiras (Spain) $14,000 4) Eliza Burnett (UK) $10,000 5) Michelle Orpe (UK) $7,000 6) Kyla Kalmer (UK) $5,000
