Vanessa Selbst Victorious in Event #19, a $1,500 PLO Tournament, at the 2008 World Series of Poker
Vanessa Selbst dominated the $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha Event at the 2008 World Series of Poker. The former MIT student held the most chips at the end of each day of play including the last. Although Selbst isn't new to WSOP final tables – the $1,500 PLO Tournament marked her fourth such appearance, she did earn her first bracelet in this event.
Selbst, who fought heads-up with Australian pro Jamie Pickering, winner of the A$1,000 Limit Hold'em Tournament at the 2008 Aussie Millions, became the first woman to take down a Pot Limit Omaha Event at the WSOP. She's also only the 12th woman to win a bracelet in an open event in the World Series.
Here are the final results:
1) Vanessa Selbst - $227,933 2) Jamie Pickering - $145,459 3) Stanley Statkiewicz, Jr. - $88,063 4) Thomas Schultz - $72,004 5) Eugene Todd - $59,054 6) Craig Natte - $46,622 7) Mel Randolph - $36,261 8) Jamie Robbins - $28,491 9) Ken Lairson - $20,721
Selbst, Pickering and their pals had a grand old time during the heads-up match in this event. That reminds us - when you sign on to play at Ultimate Bet, your friends will get a special bonus on their first deposit...and you can receive double the reward. Click here for more information!
