A US Player At PokerRoom
US player ferrets out the scoop
PokerRoom.com is one of the handful of publicly traded online poker rooms that decided to play it safe by withdrawing from the US market after Black Friday, the day President Bush signed the Safe Port Act into law, along with the anti-online gambling rider. With PokerRoom no longer taking an active role in US players, it seems that they should be written off the list of places to play for Americans- or should they?
I had signed up for an account with PokerRoom long ago, but had never played (all part of this 'Poker Journalist' thing.) I made a deposit on the morning of Friday, October 13th, because I was interested in checking out the Ongame Poker Classic. By the afternoon PokerRoom had announced they would not be taking any on any US customers. And yet...
I've been able to play. Despite the best efforts of gremlins in the chat rooms trying to tell US players that the world is coming to an end, US players who have an active account can still play, as of this writing. Deposits and withdraws through Neteller work fine. Now,I won't tell you how well I've done, because I don't want to embarrass anyone(mostly myself) but I have won some money and been able to withdraw it. So, US players, if you already have an account, don't forget about our Ongame Poker Classic promo through PokerRoom and Hollywood Poker !
