Event #6 of the Ultimate Bet Online Championship (UBOC) saw almost 700 entants, 70 of which made some bank. Top prize was well over 30k. The prize pool was guaranteed at 100k, but grew to almost 140k due to the number of entrants. CP_MagiciaN went into the final table with the chip lead. However, T LaZeR ended that in the first hand by doubling up through the chip leader. T LaZeR had pocket aces and CP_MagiciaN had pocket kings so it was just one of those things, y'all.
The Piper 24 was the first one out of the final table when he caught a couple of unlucky hands. Pckt Bullets was left as the short stack and made a quick departure thereafter when his pocket fours proved to be no match for Pillow Pants' Kd, Jh. D2005 then took his place as the short stack, a position he didn't hold for very long. He left the competition when his Ad, 9d ran into korjae's As, Js. korjae caught a flush on the turn which sealed D2005's fate. He left in 8th with $3,410.
T LaZeR, who started off so well at the final table, find himself out in seventh after coming out on the losing end of some big hands. Beets12 then pushed all-in preflop with pocket tens. He was called by the eventual winner, totheright. totheright, who had an Ad, Js in the pocket caught an amazing flop of Ah, Jc, Jd. Adios, Beets!
korjae and CP_MagiciaN then hit the rails in fourth and third places respectively. Heads up saw totheright with a massive chip lead against Pillow Pants. Pillow Pants did his best, but it wasn't enough and totheright took home first place, the bracelet and $32k.
Event #7 was a Pot-Limit Omaha Event with re-buys. There were 175 entrants who purchased 168 rebuys and 151 add-ons. This pushed the prize pool over the $75,000 guarantee to almost 100k. The prize pool was split amongst the top 20 finishers with $26,676 going to first place (PiMaster).
Internet pro, Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy was at the final table. He entered as a short stack at 74k. rps5000, who was the frontrunner on the UBOC leaderboard going into this event, was also there. Regardless of where he finished, he was almost assured of the heads-up match against Hellmuth that UltimateBet was offering along with the UBOC promotion. arbianight went into the final table with the chip lead.
It wasn't much of a surprise when rps5000 went all-in against arbianight. He knocked rps5000 out with aces up. JohnnyBax nursed his short stack and knocked out the unfortunately-named, Tony Pisser, in 8th. Bax was the next elimination when he came up against PiMaster who made a broadway straight, which negated Bax's set of kings.
mecu was the next out when WINTERS1 showed quad aces. Whoa! That hand gave WINTERS1 the chip lead. He also raked in a ton of arbianight's chips with those quads. He and PiMaster had more than double the amount of chips as their closest competitors. classpoppy lost to eatschips full house - twos full of aces - and left in sixth place with $5,928.
eatschips didn't have long to enjoy his windfall as someone else ate up all his chips next. PiMaster's trip tens took down eatschips' two pair and sent him to the rails in fifth. me4504, the short stack, was knocked out in fourth, again by PiMaster.
With three players remaining, PiMaster had a huge chip lead. arbianight was the short stack and left next, just two hands into three-way play. Going into heads-up, PiMaster held 1.2 mil in chips versus WINTERS1's 400k. WINTERS1 got his chips up to 750k, then watched them dwindle down to 23k. He then went back up to above 700k and down to under 200k in time for the final hand. PiMaster won with pocket sevens against WINTERS1's pocket fives.
Here are the final results:
1) PiMaster - $26,676 2) WINTERS1 - $15,808 3) arbianight - $11,362 4) me4504 - $8,398 5) eatschips - $6,916 6) classyploppy - $5,928 7) mecu - $4,940 8) JohnnyBax - $3,952 9) Tony Pisser - $2,964 10) rps5000 - $1,976
Event #8, the $200,000 No-Limit Holdem tournament, only had 789 players. UB.com had to pay out $42,000 to make up the difference. The eventual winner, mcmanusd earned $46,000 for his first-place finish. Online pros Jeff "Uli Kunkel" Garza, Chad "muchaka" Cheresnick and Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad all made it to the final table. John Vorhaus, of Team Ultimate Bet and Nick Geber, of Bluff Radio, called the final table action.
Event #9 was a $100,000 H.O.R.S.E. Guarantee. The turnout in the event was low - seems not everyone loves to play H.O.R.S.E. online as much as I do. (If only I was around that day to play. Next time, I promise I'll be there.) UltimateBet put $42,400 into the prize pool to complete the 100k. Ouch!
WiscoMurray had a large chip lead going into the final table with 234k. Jpmetalman, who had only 34k going into the final table, was the first one out about 10 hands into the action. He had a nine low in razz against WiscoMurray's 8-low. (Remember: In razz, the lowest low wins.) Wiscomurray then knocked out shipitdotcom when he made the best possible razz hand, a wheel. shipit was sent $4,500 for his seventh-place finish, however.
The next elimination didn't happen for over half an hour. By that time, the game changed to seven-card s tud. WiscoMurray watched his chip lead slip away to 100k behind spithotfire, who now held the top spot. igolow was getting pretty low so she made a move. She had to. Indariva called and made showed trip aces on seventh street. igolow had two pairs, fives and twos. She was sent to the rails in sixth place.
YoungSupremcy was still short-stacked and went home next as WiscoMurray completed an ace-high flush. buckstop was the next one out and took away $8,000 for his fourth place finish. Indariva had 281k at the start of three-way play. spithotfire held 230k and WiscoMurray brought up the rear with 209k. During limit holdem at 20k/40k blinds, indariva raised spithotfire's call from the small blind. The flop brought spithotfire a pair of tens. However, it gave indariva a set of queens. When another ace came on the river, indariva made a full house, queens over aces and sent spithotfire to the pit in third.
indariva then beat WiscoMurray in heads-up play within two minutes. She made a jack-high spade flush to crush Wisco's two pair, nines and fours. The win netted her $26,000 and a silver UBOC bracelet.
The Main Event of the Ultimate Bet Online Championships (UBOC) was guaranteed at $1,000,000. Only 1,400 entrants coughed up the cash to play. Ultimate Bet had to put in $300,000 to meet the guarantee. Wow! That's one of the biggest overlays on the internet ever. We're sure it's not a record Ultimate Bet wanted to break, either.
Maria Nuccia, who also plays as "t soprano", split the winnings with Fred420. The duo decided on a deal with the help of Phil Hellmuth, who was calling the final table with Nick Geber at Bluff Radio, and Ultimate Bet's support team when their heads-up match dragged on for a bit. The event, which took the place of UB's weekly $200,000 Guarantee, saw some famous faces, besides Hellmuth. Dan Harrington was rumored to be playing at the final table as E Tyme, but there's no clear confirmation on that.
A_theKevlar_2, a fixture at UB.com and a successful one at that, made the final table and earned $65,000 for his fourth place finish. Fred and Maria each received $168,450 with Maria winning the final hand to earn the UBOC bracelet.
Here are the final table results:
1) Maria Nuccia - $168,450 2) Fred420 - $168,450 3) PMJackson21 - $87,500 4) A_theKevlar_2 - $65,000 5) Zmona - $52,500 6) breitling996 - $42,000 7) RMB31 - $32,000 8) toetagU - $22,500 9) E Tyme - $17,000 10) ThrillsnKills - $10,000
