Weekend Update – WSOP Main Event Bonanzas at Poker Stars and Full Tilt Poker
On Sunday June 15, 2008 both Full Tilt Poker and Poker Stars held special World Series of Poker Main Event qualifying events. Full Tilt offered 150 seats and gave no more than that way. 3,350 people showed up for that event and the top 150 happily collected those $12,000 prize packs including Xuan Nguyen, aka x2then and Daniel Deveau, aka voff voff voff.
However, Poker Stars, which guaranteed 200 seats, boasted the biggest numbers of the weekend. More than 8,000 players signed up to this event. Nine hours after the tournament began, a total of 226 players earned their seat to the biggest poker tournament in the world. PokerStars' prize packs were good for $12,500. Players were earned these included Peter Jetten (Apathy123), Jim Campbell (jcamby33) and Sasha Rosewood (bikocruz).
Next week, both PokerStars and Full Tilt are expected to run their regular weekend tournaments. Each site still has some Main Event seats on hand.
