holdplz Captures the Title at Full Tilt $750k on Sunday July 6, 2008
For the tenth week in a row, Full Tilt had to pay out some cash to meet the $750,000 Guarantee for its Sunday extravaganza. Only 3,644 people took part in the tournament on July 6, 2008, leaving a deficit of $21,200. Of course, what was bad news (in part) for Full Tilt was great news for the players who made the event…they received more value for their buy-in buck.
Making the final table were wmmcl, Brian “SN8WMAN” Hawkins, Kasper74, fratboy247 and eventual champ, Anthony “holdplz” Spinella. wmmcl had a busy weekend, as he finished seventh in this event and took fourteenth place in Full Tilt's Sunday Mulligan.
Hawkins, who's had an amazing year having taking down both a Poker Stars Sunday Million and making a final table of an Ultimate Bet Sunday $200k on the same January weekend as well as adding two more Sunday final tables online since then, was present. The SN8WMAN melted in sixth place, adding $23,025 to his impressive online earnings thus far.
Kasper74 had his biggest payday to date by taking fifth place. His ending was sandwiched between SN8WMAN and fratboy247. fratboy247 also put up the biggest numbers of his relatively short career. He's only been appearing under this username at least since April 16, 2008. His fourth place finish was good for $41,400, which accounts for more than 80% of his total earnings to date.
In the end, Spinella, who took the runner-up slot at PokerStars on December 16, 2007, defeated jibossh in heads-up play, laying claim to the $132,788 first place prize and the title.
Here are the final results:
1) holdplz - $132,788 2) jibossh - $80,250 3) Belig - $52,500 4) fratboy247 - $41,400 5) kasper74 - $31,050 6) SN8WMAN - $23,025 7) wmmcl - $17,250 8) jtd24 - $13,500 9) ohjay310 - $10,050
