msmatrix Beats mattyv at Full Tilt on Sunday
Like PokerStars , Full Tilt also noted a decline in attendance on Sunday May 25, 2008 – perhaps this was due to the holiday weekend in the US? 3,580 entrants paid to play in the tournament which was not enough to meet the guarantee. For the first time in a long time, Full Tilt had to pay out some cash, $34,000 to be exact.
Making yet another final table appearance was Brian “SN8WMAN” Hawkins, an online specialist who won the PokerStars Sunday Million and made the final table of the Ultimate Bet $200k on the same weekend back in January . SN8WMAN finished in eighth place this time, adding $13,500 to his total earnings. Jess “JohnyCashOut” Newman, a winner of the Ultimate Bet $200,000 on May 4, 2008, took sixth position in this event.
The last two players standing in the event were msmatrix and Matt “mattyv” Vengrin. Vengrin, who also goes by the moniker 'plattsburgh', is well known in online circles. He's a runner-up at the PokerStars Sunday Million from April 27, 2008 and an FTOPS V champ. (He took down Event #9 in August 2007, a short-handed hold'em tourney that featured poker superstars such as Paul Wasicka, Annette Obrestad and Paul Wasicka.)
However, Vengrin was vanquished this time in second-place as msmatrix claimed the title and the top spot for herself.
