On Sunday February 11, 2007 at 6pm EST , Full Tilt held the third event in its third installment of the Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS). Erick “EDOG” Lindgren served as the host. Unfortunately, Erick received a bad beat with his pocket rockets and was defeated in a disappointing 2,606 th place. 2,755 players plunked down the $322 buy-in to play which drove the prize pool up to an impressive $826,500. 405 players cashed including Full Tilt pro Huckleberry (Huck) Seed – yes, that's his real name. Huck, the winner of the 1996 Main Event of the World Series of Poker, finished in fifteenth place, earning over $6,000 for his effort.
As final table action began, tsarrast had first-place with 1.6 million chips and mickry mtl brought up the rear with a measly 367k. Of course, with the big blind at 24k, there was still quite a bit of play left at this table. In fact, it took over two hours to complete which is a very rare feat on the 'net.
mickry mtl played his short stack quite well and quadrupled up early on. He actually knocked out the first player from the final table when he made a diamond-flush on the river. ThisComesLast came in last at the championship table and took $11,571 with him. mickry mtl stole the chip lead away from tsarrast with this impressive takedown and savvy play.
DontBluffMePLZZ held pocket kings against B1317's Qs,10s. The board brought B1317 the hope of a gutshot with an 8d,7s,6c. Unfortunately, the turn and river didn't complete it. They were the 3s and a 6d. B1317 was all-in so he said Auf Wiedersehen to the table.
Hummer141's chips seemed to bleed slowly away at the final table. That is until he called mrRosen's 78,000 preflop bet with his pocket nines. Both players checked all the way to the river with a board of Kh,7h,2h,6c,5s. mrRosen bet 142k on what Hummer thought was a steal. He called and watched his tournament life end as mrRosen showed a Qh,Jh and a back-door flush.
Ouch!
The $19,340 that Hummer141 earned for his seventh-place finish will buy a lot of band-aids for those war wounds. terhahn hit the rails next when his pocket sixes failed to hold up against tsarrast's J,9. A couple of hands later, mrRosen would sing his swan song. He held Ad,5c against DontBluffMePLZZ's dominant Ac,Jh. The board sent Bluff a king-high straight and mrRosen took his fifth-place cash ($36,366) and ran. DontBluff would then knock out tsarrast next.
This gave DontBluff the obvious advantage once three-handed play began. He had 4.6 mil in chips against Don Guzzo's 1.9 mil and mickry mtl's 1.8 mil. However, the lead was not enough for Bluff and he kept whittling away at his opponents' chip stacks.
Bluff caught some luck and delivered mickry mtl a bad beat. Bluff held the dead man's hand and mickry had an A,Q. Things looked good for mickry until the flop produced two kings and a miracle eight for Bluff. The turn (10d) and river (9c) didn't bring a needed straight or queen for mickry so he put the pedal to the 'mtl' and ended his night in third-place.
When heads-up play got underway, DontBluff was sitting pretty with a 4-to-1 margin over Don Guzzo. The two played for about fifteen hands before the death knell sounded. Don Guzzo went all-in with As,Ks. DontBluff called with his pocket sailboats (4c,4d). The board did nada for Guzzo and gave Bluff the win.
Here are the final table results:
1. DontBluffMePLZZ - $151,249.50 2. Don Guzzo - $92,568.00 3. mickry mtl - $60,334.50 4. tsarrast - $47,937.00 5. mrRosen - $36,366.00 6. terhahn - $26,200.05 7. Hummer141 - $19,340.10 8. B1317 - $15,207.60 9. ThisComesLast - $11,571.00
