Full Tilt guaranteed $200,000 for the Pot Limit Hold'em Tournament with Allen Cunningham, multiple WSOP bracelet winner and Main Event final table finisher. 1,673 folks sat down to play the game on Friday night. Full Tilt keeps exceeding its guarantees. This time this prize pool was a whopping $334,600, with over $60,000 being set aside for the first place finisher.
Michael Craig, Full Tilt's resident blogger - he's perhaps best known known for his book The Professor, the Banker and the Suicide King which chronicles Andy Beal's first go against a group of pros called The Corporation (Howard Lederer, Doyle Brunson, Jennifer Harman et. al.), was the highest finishing FTPer of the night. He came in 101st place which was good for $434.98.
Seven hours after the event began, the final table was set. JensV, the tournament's eventual winner, and Red Bikini were the chip leaders with six figures each. TheFatFish, who won event #9 in the fourth edition of the FTOPS, was close behind. He came to the table prepared, wearing his FTOPS golden jersey and all.
Unsurprisinglyl, the big stacks began to pick on the little stacks. The first two knockouts were dealt by TheFatFish and Red Bikini. TheFatFish sent MrKrabbs to the rail with a flush. Red Bikini's pocket tens made short work of Corny54 and his K,9 in the hole.
With eight players left Fish took a chunk out of Bikini's stack. He doubled up when he connected with his A,Q against the Bikini's pocket fives. However, the Bikini would pull out a win after going all-in with A,Q against - who else? - TheFatFish.
This left the Fish weakened. Soon afterwards, LegacyRik filleted the Fish with his pocket aces. Fish, appropriately enough, held the dead man's hand (A,8).
LegacyRik then eliminated stupidtim with an A,Q. Now the remaining players were assures of a five-figure payday. lyerly then went in with a 9,2o and doubled up against Red Bikini. He apologized for the bad beat stating that he was playing two other final tables at the same time and his "brain hurt."
LegacyRik hit the rail in fourth place after pushing all-in with a 9,10 and coming up against the big slick of Red Bikini. As three-handed play got underway, the remaining contestants played fast and furiously. Each took the chip lead at one point.
However, lyerly would lose a race with his pocket nines against JensV and her K,J. This was a major factor in his elimination, at the hands of JensV, on the very next hand. This gave JensV the clear advantage when heads-up action got underway. She had about a 2-to-1 lead over Red Bikini.
Of course, the road to winning the championship wasn't easy. Jen and Bikini kept swapping the chip lead for over an hour. Finally, Bikini went all-in with pocket fives. JensV had him covered and called with an A,7 of diamonds. The flop brought one diamond. The turn and the river also brought the red cards, giving Jens the backdoor flush and the championship.
Here are the final table results:
1) JensV - $61,901 2) Red Bikini - $38,144 3) lyerly - $25,095 4) ringjob3 - $20,076 5) LegacyRik - $15,391 6) stupidtim - $11,041 7) TheFatFISH - $8,030 8) Corny54 - $6,257 9) MrKrabbs - $4,818
