Online Poker Weekend Results – 8.05.07

Annette Obrestad

On Sunday, Ultimate Bet didn't host their weekly $200,000. Don't worry – the site that's home to Annie Duke and Antonio Esfandiari held a satellite event. People paid $530 to enter. Fifty walked away with prize packages for the sixth installment of the Aruba Classic which is set to take place from September 29 – October 6, 2007 . Noted internet player, Jon 'apestyles' Van Fleet earned one of these prize packs. Apestyles had a great weekend online as he also bubbled the final table at the Bodog $100,000 which we'll talk about in a wee bit.

UB.com also held a $75,000 Guaranteed mini main event on Sunday. 184 players entered this event. 20 made bank including Eric “Rizen” Lynch. He reached the final table but was knocked out in eighth place when his all-in push with Ad,4d came up against the A,Q of sundog90.

Here are the final results of that event:

1) sundog90 - $24,840 2) tartara - $14,720 3) BluHorseshoe - $10,580 4) thorladen - $7,820 5) dipthr0ng - $6,440 6) -GR I N D ER- - $5,520 7) josh prager - $4,600 8) Rizen - $3,680 9) JRD312 - $2,760 10) badposture - $1,840

Bodog saw 926 entrants in its Sunday $100,000 Guaranteed. This was up a bit from last week's attendance of 912. Bodog laid out less than $10,000 to make the guarantee. As we mentioned earlier on, Jon “apestyles” Van Fleet was the boy in the bubble. He hit the skids in 10 th place, earning a cool $1,000 for his efforts.

Josh “presto” Prager, who made almost 5k over at UB.com in their $75,000 Guaranteed, entered the final table with a mid-range stack. Insanitydk was the chip leader. However, he took some big hits early and made his last stand with an A,5. eisenhower1, the eventual winner of the event, called his all-in bet and flipped over pocket kings. Despite making two pair on the flop, Insanity was up against it as eisenhower1, another internet legend, hit a set on the same flop.

Insanity was eliminated in sixth place which was good for $4,400. presto Prager followed InsanityDK out the door. He also pushed all-in with an A,5. He caught the nut-flush draw on the flop, but never completed it. eburns raked in Prager's remaining chips, and the table was down to four.

eisenhower1 became the chip leader after sending Park_Place to the rail in fourth place. In a strange coincidence, eburns was caught holding an A,5 in the pocket on his last hand. He found himself up against the pocket kings of eisenhower.

When heads-up play began, eisenhower had a commanding chip lead with 1.9 mil to People_Mover's measly 420k. However, People_Mover fought a long and valiant battle, lasting almost fifteen minutes before succumbing. The final hand saw People_Mover go all-in preflop with an Kh,Qd. eisenhower called and was thrilled to see his Ah,Jd ahead. The board didn't move for People. At least, he took down $14,000 for the second-place finish.

These are the final table facts, folks:

1) eisenhower1 - $25,000 2) People_Mover - $14,000 3) eburns - $9,000 4) Park_Place - $6,500 5) pesto - $5,400 6) Insanitydk - $4,400 7) juancito888 - $3,400 8) 3pounder - $2,400 9) Bears - $1,550

Of course, the big story this weekend took place at Full Tilt Poker . The site that 2007 WSOP Main Event champ, Jerry Yang, calls home, held their $500,000 Guarantee. Almost 3,300 people played the game, generating a hot total prize pool of $653,600.

Leading the pack as the final table began was insanocut with 3.3 million chips. Right behind him was teen phenom, Annette Obrestad, aka Annette_15. The Norwegian wunderkind from Stavanger , Norway , has made it to the top of most people's short lists as the most feared player on the 'net.

She's a force of nature, and we undoubtedly expect great things from her in the future.

Annette got things rolling by knocking out the first player. She clobbered OtherPeoplesMony's A,Q in the hole with her pocket rockets. She took over the chip lead from insanocut when she annihilated waitamin08 with her pocket hooks.

Things heated up as the action got down to three. However, Annette was firmly in control after taking a huge pot after insanocut. She then solidified her dominance by flopping quads to bust boltsava in third place.

As heads-up play got underway, Annette was sitting pretty with 8.5 million chips. insanocut held a comparatively paltry 1.3 mil. The heads-up match lasted just one hand. insano raised the pot to 236k. Annette put him all-in. He called with his Ah,10h. Annette showed the As,Qh and was poised for the victory. The flop fittingly provided her with a pair of queens and her opponent with a flush draw. However, the turn and river were blanks.

Here are the final results of that event:

1) Annette_15 - $117,027.08 2) insanocut - $71,242.40 3) boltsva - $46,405.60 4) 1LUCKYesOBEY - $36,274.80 5) waitamin08 - $27,124.40 6) kasedowgy - $20,065.52 7) BBOY06 - $15,032.80 8) Tutnik - $11,764.80 9) OthrPeoplesMony - $8,758.24
