Halfrek Takes Down $1 Million Guaranteed at FTOPS on Monday May 12, 2008
1,593 players took to the felt in the $1,000 buy-in NL Hold'em $1,000,000 Guaranteed event, hosted by Nick Schulman, on Monday May 12, 2008. 162 of these players made bank – Schulman wasn't one of them. However, FTP pros such as Huck Seed, Jon Turner, aka Pearljammed and Bruce Buffer did. Online pros who earned some cash included Travis “TravestyFund” Rice and Zach “CrazyZachary” Clark.
Ryan “Daut44” Daut, who won the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in 2007, narrowly missed the final table, bubbling out in 10th place. Jonas “Klausen” Klausen almost won a second FTOPS title but had to be content with a third place finish and more than $160,000.
huey680 and Halfrek battled it out for the top spot. In the end, Halfrek emerged victorious, staking claim to the top spot, the FTOPS VIII avatar and the lion's share of the leaderboard points from this event.
