Weekend Tournament Update - June 24, 2007
Online poker action is Crazy these days (Credit: Wikipedia)
Full Tilt Poker increased its guarantee to $500,000 on Sunday. The site had nada to worry about as 3,168 entrants put up the entry fee, generating a prize pool of $633,600. TheLizard slinked into the final table with the chip lead with five of his fellow competitors nipping at his heels. He eventually hit the rails in a disappointing (for him) fourth place. Ironically, Snake413 terminated his run for the championship.
Snake413 would make it to heads-up play with Sasha Rosewood, an well-known internet playa. It looked like Sasha would take the day and the 100,000 plus in duckets for the win. Snake413, however, showed that he had plenty of game and battled back from being virtually on the ropes. On the final hand, he held an Ah,10h and made top pair on the flop.
Here are the final results:
1) Snake413 - $113,446.08 2) Sasha “Sasha Rosewood” Rosewood - $69,062.40 3) cane3418 - $44,985.60 4) TheLizard - $35,164.80 5) Crisp86 - $26,294.40 6) B1317 - $19,451.52 7) muckmehard - $14,572.80 8) danno420 - $11,404.80 9) kazoo15 - $8,490.24
Ultimate Bet put up decent numbers with 978 individuals paying for the privilege of playing in the $200,000 Guarantee. The site only had to dish out a $4400 overlay. DonkeySlayer was the chip leader at the start of the action. The DUSoonerKid was close behind. Both of these stellar players finished in the top four. Unfortunately DonkeySlayer was sent to the rail by jimmie23 when he went all-in with an 8d,7d.
At that point jimmie23 held a comfortable 787k in chips for a lock on the second spot. DuSooner played aggressive poker against the short stack makbelieve and outkicked him right out the door in third place with $18,000 in big bills.
As heads-up play began DuSooner was sitting pretty with 1.8 mil chips to jimmie23's 681k. However, the chip lead swung the other way right quick after jimmie's pocket ladies held up against a mighty scary straight draw on the board. The last hand was played only 60 seconds later.
These are the results, y'all:
1) jimmie23 - $45,000 2) Brian “DUSoonerKid” Hansen - $26,500 3) makbelieve - $18,000 4) Donkey5layer - $13,100 5) ShipItThisWay - $10,500 6) BAGGY - $8,500 7) rollemm - $6,500 8) POPMONSTER - $4,500 9) Xuan “x2then” Nguyen - $3,400 10) quanberg - $2,000
Bodog continues to struggle. Only 710 folks made it to the $100,000 Guarantee on Sunday. The site that's home to pros like Josh Arieh, Evelyn Ng and David Williams paid out $19,000 to meet the 100k. CrazyMarco, a notable internet poker force of nature, began the action in second place and made it all the way. CrazyMarco, who's also known as NoraFlum on PokerStars and UltimateBet, created a path of destruction in his wake and won $25,000 for his first-place finish.
Here are the final results:
1) Marco “CrazyMarco” Johnson - $25,000 2) Cory “Ozone23” Albertson - $14,000 3) Scythe27 - $9,000 4) RunScreamin - $6,500 5) Peter_DK - $5,400 6) alonso8 - $4,400 7) pokerfanx789 - $3,400 8) spiker123 - $2,400 9) The Poacher - $1,550
