cheesemonster Crushes Competitors at FTOPS VIII Main Event
Jennifer Harman led the way at the FTOPS VIII Main Event. The $500 + 35 NLHE competition took the place of the Sunday $750,000 at Full Tilt , attracting 4,750 players and driving up the $2,000,000 prize pool to a wallet-busting $2,375,000. 648 of the entrants earned a little something for their trouble. Poor Phil Ivey had the unfortunate distinction of being the bubble boy in the tournament.
Full Tilt pros who made bank in the event included Robert Mizrachi (578th place), Roland de Wolfe (510th place), Andy Bloch (429th place), Stuart Paterson (354th place), Huck Seed (282nd place) and Martin Klaeser (62nd place). Online specialists who made an impact in the tourney were David Randall (GhettoFabolous), Brian Hawkins (SN8WMAN), Frank Hernandez (Gator93) and Jason Strasser (strassa2). strassa2 made it all the way to the final table, finishing in ninth place and earning $30,875.
cheesemonster and MarMoss fought over the top spot. The difference between first and second was more than $160,000 so you know they fought valiantly. In the end, cheesemonster emerged victorious, claiming the $410,780 prize and the Main Event crown.
